1. Willem Claesz. Heda
(Haarlem ca. 1599-1680)
"Breakfast" Still life with Oysters and two 'Roemers'
ca. 1635
2. This master's painting is called Breakfast, because of the simple and blatant subject matter. It is full of discarded breakfast items, cups, plates and food.
3. The focus is to the right of the image on a cup full of water, being the tallest object it catches the eye.
4. I think the meaning behind it, or the reason is that he wanted to study the lights and shadows on water and old food.
5. I really like this painting, the detail is mindblowing. I find it really subtle and beautiful. I really enjoy how the light hits the water in the glass, it looks so real but it still has that oil feel to it.
